Their property had major cracks in the walls/ceilings due to ground shifting, green and orange stains on the carpets, the oven in the unit wasn't insulated very well, and the A/C couldn't keep the house below 80 degrees on a 90+ degree day. The photos are from when we moved into the unit in July 2016.
If you can help it do NOT do business with these people! Long story short, we leased a duplex, on move in day it was DISGUSTING, wrote everything in the inspection upon move in. Reported it also. Nothing was done. Lived there for ten months. Paid our rent on time every single month. Moved out two months early because we bought a house. STILL paid our rent and was told if it leased out earlier we would get our money back. It didn't. Reason why? They RAISED the rent the entire time it was under our name. Guess what? Checked today, when our lease is up and they put it right back to the original rent. Just enough to be legal but so freaking unnecessary and shady! Oh and that $500 deposit? We got $90 back. We paid for professional cleaning and left that duplex SPARKLING clean. Especially considering how we found it. This company is crooked and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone.
Avoid renting with Harrell if at all possible.
Harrell Realty was slow to respond to repair issues during our stay in their property and then docked nearly half of the deposit for "cleaning" and "painting" -- when I submitted a complaint through BBB they mentioned they had to clean a bathtub and never would say what they had to repaint, only that, "The property required more than minimal, minor touch up paint considering occupancy was for only one year", despite having the place thoroughly cleaned and touched up (including the walls) at move out.
Possible Discrimination. My fiance and I wanted to rent a duplex in Hewitt so my finance called Herrell Realty and my fiancé stated the lady was extremely rude. My fiancé wanted to complete the application but the lady rudely stated you must have perfect credit and make 4 and a half times rent. My fiancé was so upset about how she presented the information she left and told me about it. So I talked to the lady at Herell and I provided copy of my paystubs and she ran a background and credit check that came clear. My fiancé and I were very excited to move in but then a lady named Debbie stated we can't move in because my fiancé doesn't make 4 and a half times rent. she stated each person over 18 must make the income requirements. I was EXTREMELY PISSED and never heard of anything like that in my life. Screw you Herrell. I'm glad I didn't move in after reading your reviews. SCAM ARTISTS
be ready to pay A LOT when you move out, I received a move out statement, and I was charged for damages that were documented on the move in conditions statement, they charge you unreasonable price for different things like ($170 for a fridge handle, for a fridge that is not even worth $100 because it's old and leaky). they threaten you to send to collections if you don't pay so you have no option unless you go to the court, you can't negotiate with them. If you rent with them make sure you have a lawyer with you (yes,I am that serious).
I regret that I ignored the reviews on here because I was excited about the location of my rental.
I wouldn't rent from these crooked people. They take your application money and don't even call you to inform you if your application was denied or not. I had to call them, and the leasing lady stated that she couldn't give me specific information and asked me if I knew what my credit score was. Since I would be leasing with a friend, they called her (my friend) and told her it was credit but wouldn't give specifics and thought that she would tell me. I called and asked for specific information on my application and the manager gave me a different story. She said they don't go based on your credit score, but she also would not go into specific details why I was or wasn't denied. I informed her they are ripping people off for one, if they can't even call a person to tell them if they have been accepted or not and second, for what reason. I'm sorry but that is not okay.
