My "non-smoking" room smells heavily of smoke, there is someone else's hair all over the bathroom (why? Oh why?), and the wi-fi is at one bar. I've been to other super 8 hotels for the same price; this one stinks in comparison.
This Super 8 had a clean, well lit, lobby with a nice waiting area. The staff at the front desk was friendly, attentive, and efficient so we were checked into our rooms quickly and at the right price.
For a pet friendly budget hotel it met all of my requirements. I am currently staying as an evacuee from hurricane Harvey. The staff is friendly and pleasant. Willing to talk if they have the time.
The breakfast bar was well stocked with coffee, juice, microwavable omelettes, oatmeal, muffins, yogurt, canned peaches, bread, all the associated condiments for the food mentioned, and a Texas-shaped waffle iron. Nothing fancy but it hits the spot.
Other reviews mentioned wear and tear on the building and furniture. With what I saw of the staff work and the guest behavior, I would call it acceptable levels. The room was clean when I checked in. I always leave the do not disturb sign on so that they do not clean my room everyday. I don't want them getting a surprise from my dog.
The hallways and rooms are a little worn down and there are a few places I noticed that some touch-up work was attempted but not done well. I could see that there was an attempt made at revarnishing the furniture but it was done in a haphazard fashion. I could see where the person doing the work had varnished right around the television. The giant picture in our room was hung slightly tilted, the lights were different temperatures, the carpet had a few pulls in it, and the shower curtain rod was starting to pull away from the wall. At the same time the room was clean, well organized, and had a comfortable bed. The shower was hot, with a good amount of pressure, and though not everything was in the best repair, everything functioned. We woke for breakfast well rested.
Overall, for the price, we were pleased with our stay and left well rested.
Very unsatisfied. For a hotel so close to campus you expect something alot nicer. Rooms need major renovations. Fixtures in bathrooms are loose, toilets are too low, beds are worn out. Strong smell of Fabuloso in the hallways. Also to arrive at the hotel after a game only to see the police having some kind of sting operation in the parking lot and to watch them from our room window as they take pics of people and handcuff them is very unsettling. Owners need to wake up and bring this place up to date. Your next to a major University!!!
They have no issues, stated or observed, with pets. My own dog is not small and I saw puppies to large breeds as well as a cat from various evacuees. The hotel staff never raised a complaint, other than one cleaning person who talked about the work required to clean up after an animal stay. This was stated with an air of "it's my job" and not frustration.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, both on the phone and in person. For the price the room was adequate. I liked that there was coffee and tea in the room, as well as a fridge!
